Eastern Basketball Developmental League
The Eastern Basketball Development League (E.B.D.L) is the Double A
level of professional basketball and is an independent league with local team
owners. The E.B.D.L played the 2002 seasons’ under the name, Eastern
Basketball Alliance (E.B.A.). The Eastern Basketball Alliance was reorganized
in 1997 and merged in 1999 with the Atlantic Basketball Alliance to form the
United Basketball Alliance.
After the start of the 2003 season, three teams Delaware, New Jersey, and
Connecticut decided to return to its long, rich basketball history. And
incorporated as the Eastern Basketball Development League (E.B.D.L). The
Old Eastern League first organized in 1946, is the longest running
professional basketball, minor league in the U.S. Has had its’ share of
famous players including Michigan State All –American Julius McCoy, current
men’s head coach for the Syracuse Orangemen Jim Boeheim and others
including NBA Stars Sonny Hill, Art Heyman, Walter Dukes and Bill Spivey
The Eastern Basketball Development League allows aspiring players the
opportunity to showcase their skills and talents in a highly competitive league,
while providing affordable, quality family entertainment. Players come from
successful Division I and II collegiate programs and many have had success
playing in the United States Basketball League (U.S.B.L.) during the summer.
The E.B.D.L. serves as a spring board for many that have the hopes of
playing in the Over Seas league and in the N.B.A. Our Players come from all
different walks of life and play basketball because they love the game. Our
league games display a very competitive basketball and offer families good,
wholesome sports entertainment at affordable prices.
The schedule allows for a total of twenty games, taking place from the first
weekend in January to last weekend in March. A best of three championship
playoff series takes the end of the season into late April.
